The Intra-Africa Mobility Scholarships are offered to support student mobility within the African continent, enhancing academic collaboration, capacity building, and higher education standards in Africa.
Eligibility
1. Who is eligible for the scholarship?

The scholarships are open to all qualified African candidates residing in Africa at the time of application to be trained in the host institutions for respective programs in Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa.
Applicants are only allowed to apply to study in an institution outside of their home country. Female and disadvantaged/vulnerable candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Some programs may have additional eligibility criteria such as age limits, academic level (e.g., master's, PhD), or field of study.
2. Can I apply if I’m already receiving another scholarship?
- You cannot apply if you have another scholarship.
3. Are there restrictions on fields of study?
- Yes, The scholarship will be given to applicants who applied in the thematic areas related to climate and environment.
Application Process
4. How can I apply for the scholarship?
- Application forms will be available online during scholarship application cycle. Applicants will fill the forms and submit as directed in the application forms and call for application.
5. What documents are required?
The following documents will be required during submission of your scholarship application. Some university will need additional documents. please look on the admission criteria to the respective university which you will apply:
- Academic transcripts
- Proof of nationality (passport or ID)
- Admission letter or proof of enrollment
- Research proposal (for PhD applicants)
- Letters of recommendation
6. When is the application deadline?
- The deadline for application will be shown in the call for scholarship application.
Benefits and Coverage
7. What does the scholarship cover?
- Tuition fees
- Travel costs (return flight between home and host country)
- Living allowance
- Medical insurance
8. Does the scholarship cover dependents?
- The scholarships only cover the recipient. Dependents are not included.
Host and Sending Institutions
9. Can I choose my host institution?
- You must choose host institutions beyween the following universities; the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM, Tanzania) as the coordinating institution, Mekelle University (MU, Ethiopia), Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU, Zimbabwe), University of Free State (UFS, South Africa), University of Ghana (UG, Ghana), University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT, Nigeria). However, you are not allowed to choose host institution from your home country.
10. Do I need to return to my home country after completing the program?
- Yes, returning to your home country is part of the scholarship terms to ensure the knowledge gained benefits the home country.
During the Program
11. Can I work while studying?
- No, you are not allowed to work while studying.
12. What happens if I fail to complete the program?
- You may be required to repay some or all of the scholarship funds if you do not complete the program for reasons within your control.
